Hunger For God’s Word Equals Spiritual Growth

There are two things that you must never lack in your life if you want to grow Spiritually; they are “Hunger” and “Thirst”. Once you lose the hunger and thirst for God, then something has gone wrong with your spiritual life.

Jeremiah 29:13 And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart. 29:14 And I will be found of you, saith the LORD: and I will turn away your captivity, and I will gather you from all the nations, and from all the places whither I have driven you, saith the LORD; and I will bring you again into the place whence I caused you to be carried away captive.

There must be the hunger and thirst to pray to God without ceasing; the hunger and thirst to wait upon the Lord, to hear and study the Word of God and the hunger and thirst to fellowship with God always.

Matthew 5:6 Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.

The more you hunger and thirst for God, the more He reveals Himself to you. The hunger and thirst for the knowledge of God, the hunger and thirst for the sweet Communion of the Holy Ghost, should be every believer’s unquenchable desire.

Our heavenly Father is a God of covenant, He always does His part of the agreement, and waits for us to do our own party. We are the ones that always break God’s covenant. God is always constant, we are the variables.

And this is the reason why many believers are under bondage and oppression of the devil, because the serpent will bite anyone that breaks the hedge.

Ecclesiastes 10:8 He that diggeth a pit shall fall into it; and whoso breaketh an hedge, a serpent shall bite him. 10:9 Whoso removeth stones shall be hurt therewith; and he that cleaveth wood shall be endangered thereby.

This is why every believer should have respect for the covenant. This is evident in the scriptures below and every believer must take these scriptures very seriously.

Psalms 74:20 Have respect unto the covenant: for the dark places of the earth are full of the habitations of cruelty.
1 Samuel 2:30 Wherefore the LORD God of Israel saith, I said indeed that thy house, and the house of thy father, should walk before me for ever: but now the LORD saith, Be it far from me; for them that honour me I will honour, and they that despise me shall be lightly esteemed.
James 4:8 Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded. 4:9 Be afflicted, and mourn, and weep: let your laughter be turned to mourning, and your joy to heaviness. 4:10 Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up.
