Words of Salvation, Deliverance and Revival
Unforgiveness or Partial forgiveness stops the flow of spiritual blessings. Many believers do not know that forgiveness is conditional, if you forgive those who offended, your heavenly Father will also forgive you and if you refuse to forgive other, neither will you receive God’s forgiveness. Unforgivenes will stop your from receiving from God; in other words, it hinders your prayer.
Unforgiveness is when you are bitter about something someone did to you or against someone that offended you. It is when you hold grudges against someone, or when you count the wrongs someone did to you. Unforgiveness is a bondage that besets anyone that does not forget wrong or anyone who is easily offended. It is disobedience to the commandment of God and a product of lack of love and fear of God. It causes closed heavens, and spiritual drought; it brings destruction. It gives birth to many children which include: bitterness, strife, hatred, depression, malice, contention, reviling, evil thoughts, witchcraft, murder, heaviness, high blood pressure, sickness, unhappiness, death etc.
In our Lord’s Prayer, it says: forgive our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us, Matthew 6:12. So if you want to receive forgiveness of your own sins before God, you must learn how to forgive completely, because partial forgiveness is No forgiveness.
Partial Forgiveness is when you forgive but there are still some reservations. When we say something like this, ” I have forgiven you, but I will not forget what you did to me or how much you hurt me, how much you embarrassed me, or what you made me go through, or I will never forget what you made me lose. This is the same as unforgiveness.
So, partial forgiveness is not forgiveness. When you forgive, you forgive completely and forget as well, just as God forgives us and wipes our past clean. The Word of God says in 2 Corinthians 5: 17, that if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. That means that once we accept Christ’s forgiveness: we are new creatures and old sins are forgiven and forgotten.
This is how we should forgive other, old things, old wrongs should pass away, and all things should become new. Relationship should be restored to normal, as it was before the offense and not, “I have forgiven you, but it can never be the same again”. The Word of God made it clear that forgiveness is 100% CONDITIONAL, let us see what God says in His Word:
1. If you do not forgive others who offend you, God will not forgive you:
Matthew 6:14-15 For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you: But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.
2. God will not answer your prayers if you harbour unforgivenes in your heart:
Mark 11:25-26 And when ye stand praying, forgive, if ye have ought against any: that your Father also which is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses. But if ye do not forgive, neither will your Father which is in heaven forgive your trespasses.
3. Unforgiveness is disobeying God’s commandment:
Leviticus 19:17-18 Thou shalt not hate thy brother in thine heart: thou shalt in any wise rebuke thy neighbour, and not suffer sin upon him. Thou shalt not avenge, nor bear any grudge against the children of thy people, but thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself: I am the LORD.
4. You are not different from an unbeliever if you do not forgive:
1 John 2:10-11 He that loves his brother abides in the light, and there is none occasion of stumbling in him. But he that hates his brother is in darkness, and walks in darkness, and knows not whither he goes, because that darkness hath blinded his eyes.
5. If you do not forgive, the love of God is not in you and you are not different from a murderer:
1 John 3:15-16 Whosoever hates his brother is a murderer: and ye know that no murderer hath eternal life abiding in him. Hereby perceive we the love of God, because he laid down his life for us: and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren.
6. You do not love God, neither are you child of God if you do not forgive:
1 John 4:20-21 If a man say, I love God, and hates his brother, he is a liar: for he that loves not his brother whom he hath seen, how can he love God whom he hath not seen? And this commandment have we from him, That he who loves God love his brother also.
7. You will be condemned and go to hell if you do not forgive:
Luke 6:37 Judge not, and ye shall not be judged: condemn not, and ye shall not be condemned: forgive, and ye shall be forgiven:
8. The Holy Spirit can not work in you if you do not forgive:
Ephesians 4:30-32 And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption. Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice: And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ’s sake hath forgiven you.
9. Love does not count wrong and forgiveness is patient:
Matthew 18:21-22 Then came Peter to him, and said, Lord, how oft shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? till seven times? Jesus said unto him, I say not unto thee, Until seven times: but, Until seventy times seven.
10. Unforgiveness is an act of wickedness and the wicked shall not go unpunished:
Matthew 18:32-35 Then his lord, after that he had called him, said unto him, O you wicked servant, I forgave you all that debt, because you desired me: Should you not have also had compassion on your fellow servant, even as I had pity on you? And his lord was wroth, and delivered him to the tormentors, till he should pay all that was due unto him. So likewise shall my heavenly Father do also unto you, if ye from your hearts forgive not every one his brother their trespasses.
Has someone done something to you that you feel that it is unforgiveable? Have you vowed never to forgive that man that robbed/duped you; and caused you to lose everything? Just remember, God is still there to lift you up if you give Him the chance, you have not lost everything.
Or maybe you swore with you life that you will never forgive that rapist, that person that molested you as a child, or that friend that introduced you to stealing, homosexuality, lesbianism, drug addiction or any other habit that you are still struggling with? I may not know all your stories, I may not understand all that you have been through or maybe no one could ever understand, But God perfectly understands and He is here to help you with your pain and restore you back to glory.
1 Peter 5:7 Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.
Psalms 55:22 Cast thy burden upon the LORD, and he shall sustain thee: he shall never suffer the righteous to be moved.
Matthew 11:28-30 Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.
