Words of Salvation, Deliverance and Revival
The strength of the enemy depends on the resistance of a Christian: the stronger the Christian, the weaker the enemy. The Word of God says that we should resist the devil and he will flee from us. So the deal lies on resisting the devil, but one cannot resist the devil without submitting oneself to the Will of God. This is the only way you can increase your strength in order to resist the devil. [James 4:7]
The spiritual strength of a believers is derived from obeying and living the Word of God through the power of the Holy Ghost. If we want to resist the devil and defeat the enemy of our destiny, we must increase our strength daily by abiding in the Word of God and allowing the Word of God to abide in us. By doing this, we strengthen our faith which will shield us from all the fiery darts of the devil.
The Bible says in Proverbs 24:10, that anyone that fails in the day of adversity has a small strength. This is why we need to be strong in the Lord and in the power of his might according to Ephesians 6:10, if we have any plan of defeating the devil.
1. For a believer to be strong in the Lord, he/she must do away with the enemy of spiritual power called “The Flesh”, all the works of the flesh and all appearances of evil which are in constant battle with the Spirit. In other words, for you to be strong in the Lord, you must be led by the Spirit of God. The Bible made this clear in the book of Galatians 5: 16-21.
Simply put, you cannot be strong in the Lord with all the loads of the flesh weighing you down. The Bible shows us what the works of the flesh are in Galatians 5: 19-21,“Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God”.
Also, the Bibles tells us in the book of Romans 8: 5-8 that those who walk in the flesh are occupied with the things of this world which spiritual strength and power are not part of, it also tells us that walking in the flesh simply makes you an enemy of God and when you cannot please God in the flesh, how then can you be strong in Him?
Anyone that still mingle in the works of the flesh does not have the capacity to resist the devil, because he is an enemy of God, and cannot please God, [Romans 8:5-8]. And when you offend your only source of strength against the devil, what then shall be your end? The lusts of the world and all the cares of these life spell doom for those who want to defeat the enemy of their destiny. For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.
2. For you to be strong in the Lord, you have to put on the Whole Armour of God in other to be able to stand and overcome all the schemes of the devil and his agents. The Bible made it clear in Ephesian 6: 11-18, emphasizing the need to put on the whole Armour of God and not just part of it, it must be put on whole with no piece missing out of place. And there is no room for turning your back on the enemy, because there is no amour for your back if you notice from the above scriptures.
That is why the Jesus said that anyone that puts his hand on the plow and looks back is not fit for the Kingdom of God, [Luke 9:62]. What this means is that one can lose his salvation. And it is warning us not go back to the world and the pleasures of sin after confessing Christ as personal lord and Saviour. Once you are born again, do not look back to the world, nothing polluted shall survive in the kingdom of our God and His Christ.
3. To be strong in the Lord means to yield yourself totally to the will of God and the leading of the Holy Spirit. when you are led by the Spirit of God, you become the son of God. And as a son of God, you have God’s armory at your disposal. This increases your strength and makes you strong in the Lord; and stronger than any spiritual, physical and potential adversaries, [Romans 8:14 & 19].
4. For you to be strong in the Lord, you must put your whole trust in the LORD and walk by Faith and not by sight, feelings or your own understanding.
Proverbs 3:5-8, says that we should trust in the LORD with all our heart; and lean not unto our own understanding. That we should acknowledge God in all our ways, and He shall direct our paths. It warns us not to be wise in our own eyes; and that we should fear the LORD, and depart from evil. That once we are able to do all these thing, it shall be health to our navel, and marrow to our bones.
Also in Hebrews 11:6, the Word of God enjoins us to have faith in God, because without faith it is impossible to please Him. For anyone that comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of them that diligently seek Him.
